Shija e Veriut promotes traditional products from the three northern Albanian municipalities of Fush\u00eb Arr\u00ebz, Puk\u00eb, and Vau Dej\u00ebs. In this region rocky peaks, forests, meadows, lakes, and rivers surround towns and villages scattered between the\u00a0 lowlands of Vau Dej\u00ebs and the shores of the Fierza and Komani lakes at the northern end of Fush\u00eb Arr\u00ebz.<\/span><\/p>\n Bushat and La\u00e7 are the most populated centres of Vau Dej\u00ebs, with the latter neatly situated at the confluence of the Drini and Gjad\u00ebr rivers. This municipality includes a good part of the Zadrima region and offers plenty of quality products thanks to a long tradition of agriculture, breeding, and handicraft. From Vau Dej\u00ebs the traveller is presented with the option to head towards the Lakes Vau Dej\u00ebs and Komani. A bumpy road runs along the shores of Vau Dej\u00ebs lake and in front of the Cukali massif for about 30 km up to the village of Koman. Here, the much-appreciated trips on the Komani Lake have their starting point, bringing tourists and locals to Fierza or Lumi i Shales<\/em> through breath-taking canyons and several small oases of relax and natural beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3748″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599484593751{padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]<\/p>\n Moving westwards of Vau Dej\u00ebs, along the SH5, a steep climb marks the beginning of the mountain road that leads to Puk\u00eb, passing through oak and pine forests. A small town in the Albanian Alps, Puk\u00eb is located at around 830 m above the sea level on a plateau surrounded by the T\u00ebrbuni and Krrab mountains, south of the Drini River and Komani Lake. The alpine character of the area is evident both in the look of the town and in the tastes of local delicacies, especially based on goat cheese and meat, berries, and mushrooms. A stroll along the recently renewed city centre is a must for all visitors, while Migjeni Museum testifies for the unexpectedly rich cultural heritage of this small centre. Indeed, the town has historically enjoyed a strategic position along the route connecting Shkod\u00ebr with Kuk\u00ebs and Kosovo. Noteworthy are also the Munella massif, home to autochthonous wildlife and vegetation, T\u00ebrbuni and Krrab mountains, Puk\u00eb \u2013 Qel\u00ebz \u2013 Komani Lake route descending the river Gomina valley, the meadows and caves in Ukth and Murga, as well as the valley leading to Gjegjan village.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3750″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599484667783{padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]<\/p>\n Some 20 km northwest of Puk\u00eb, the town of Fush\u00eb Arr\u00ebz sits on the Fan river valley. Famous for its mining and water resources, as well as for its long history of timber processing, the municipality is characterized by vast mountain ranges, covered with forests and meadows. The old village of M\u00ebrtur, located under a majestic rocky peak looking onto the Komani Lake, the Iball\u00eb plateau, the Qaf\u00eb Bari site, home of one of the harshest prison camps of Enver Hoxha\u2019s regime, as well as the panoramic road that runs along Fierza Lake\u2019s coast, are the most recommended sights of this vast, yet sparsely populated municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3758″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1592564447457{padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]<\/p>\n Vau Dej\u00ebs is composed of five administrative units: Bushat, Hajmel, Shllak, Temal, Vau Dej\u00ebs and Vig-Mnel\u00eb. According to the last official census in 2011, the total population is 30.438, in a total area of around 499 km2<\/sup>. Puk\u00eb municipality includes the administrative units of Puk\u00eb, Gjegjan, Rrap\u00eb, Qel\u00ebz and Qerret, and extends for 506 km2<\/sup>, numbering a total of 11.069 inhabitants.
