Handicrafts

Clothes and Fabrics
![]()
Clothes and fabrics are key elements of a culture, the result of a centuries-old process of transformation and one of its most evident material transpositions. Thanks to their role as a crossroads between the hinterland and the Adriatic, the territories of today’s northern Albania boast a variety of traditional clothing and fabrics that has few equals in the region.

Pottery
![]()
The traditional “Vorbat” cooking pots, made out of a specific clay called “Botë”, are used for cooking some of the most typical Albanian dishes. The ancient production technique is kept alive, as it used to, with the same passion by the inhabitants of Gojan (Puka), in particular by the Biba family.

Wood
![]()
Wood carving is a technique deeply rooted in the culture of the mountain region of Puka and Fushë Arrëz, due to its large wooded surfaces. Woodworking for the production of musical instruments, kitchen utensils, and ornamental objects still resists among the inhabitants of this territory, a legacy of ancient mountain culture.
