Wine, Beer and Spirits
Local varieties of vine in Vau Dejës and the crystalline waters that flow from the mountain springs of Puka and Fushë Arrëz, together with the presence of many types of berries and fruit, have made this area particularly suitable for the production of spirits and alcoholic beverages with an irresistible taste.

The many varieties of fruit and berries present in Puka, Fushë Arrëz and Vau Dejës enriched the local production of fruit-based brandy (Raki), a well-known tradition in the Balkans. In addition to this there is a thriving production of liqueurs, among whom stand out those derived from walnuts, dogwood and blueberries.

Fresh and without preservatives, Puka Beer is handicrafted in small quantities from the purest water of the local springs. It has a typical amber color and a remarkable taste. It is no coincidence that Puka Beer is one of the favorite products of the area, particularly appreciated in Tirana as well.

Wine

Thanks to the mild climate and some typical grape varieties (such as Kallmet), the territory of northern Albania is known for its ancient tradition in wine production. Unfortunately, a big part of this custom was lost during the second half of the 20th century, but some producers have worked hard to renew the sector, with promising results.
